Self-Reliance now has member pricing on Bioheat!!

Bioheat is regular petroleum based heating oil that is blended with up to 20% biodiesel. Biodiesel works just like diesel fuel and heating oil does, it’s just made from organic material grown on farms today (like soybean oil and canola oil), rather than organic material that was buried in the ground millions of years ago (“fossil fuel” based petroleum oil). We are strongly encouraging all of our members to make the switch to this cleaner burning fuel that is made with 20% American-made, renewable biodiesel.

In October 2004, Self-Reliance was the first oil cooperative in New England to make bioheat available to its members. We were unable to negotiate a special member price on bioheat (until now), because only a small number of our members were buying it. We think the high price being charged for bioheat was one of the main reasons why so few people were using it, and so we are very pleased to announce that bioheat is now available to our members at a special discounted price! Just as our price of heating oil varies daily with fluctuations in the wholesale oil market, our bioheat price fluctuates based on wholesale markets for both heating oil and biodiesel.
